New G.I. Joe movie stills

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 by Pete at 8:08 pm

Whoa, two blog posts in one day!? You betcha. I just saw these photos on MovieTome. Check out these new stills of some of the characters from the G.I. Joe movie. Click an image for full size.

So, thoughts. The only ones I immediately like are Snake Eyes and Baroness. They look pretty much exactly how I imagined their movie versions would. Overall I’m thinking there’s a bit too much of the Splinter Cell/S.W.A.T. look for my liking. There’s definitely not much originality between the costumes, unlike the comics and cartoon.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Anyone got any input?

Manga Shakespeare

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 by Pete at 5:16 pm

CliffsNotes has published 4 ‘Manga Edition’ books based on some of Shakespeare’s works. The titles available are ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Hamlet’, ‘Julius Caesar’, and ‘Macbeth’. The text is abridged, but still Shakespearean, and the setting is true to the original work.

I think publishing these books is a smart move for CliffsNotes. Shakespeare is great, but his work can get a bit boring and tedious at times. I think high school kids would greatly benefit from seeing the stories illustrated and with the text being abridged, would not become bored with it. It’s like the movie version in CliffsNotes form. Can it even get better than that?

Re-Launch

Sunday, April 13th, 2008 by Pete at 10:19 am

Well, I recently had to re-install Wordpress because of a database error that I couldn’t sort out. And as an effect of that, I also lost all my posts. It’s alright though, I’ll get a fresh start on the ol’ blog.

I’ll be taking the blog in a new direction. Instead of all random and personal entries, I’m going to be focusing more on arts, design industry, and music postings with a few personal and random entries thrown in. In the near future, I’ll also be updating with some artwork and graphics posts. These will be pieces that won’t fit in the portfolio. I’m also thinking about possibly incorporating a few tutorial posts here and there. Not sure on that one yet though. One thing I definitely want to do is have some other authors. If you’re interested in posting and adding your thoughts to the blog, let me know. You can reply here or check the contact page for my e-mail.

Well, that’ll about do it for this post. If you’re interested in writing for the MR Blog, let me know ASAP.
